When I Was A Kid…

I can’t believe I’m old enough to remember when the United States was the one SENDING food to other countries…

When I was a kid, we didn’t even have an international space station, and in 2031 the ISS will crash into the ocean, while China is building their own, completely independent space station.

When I was a kid in the 80s traveling in China, everyone wore either blue canvas clothes if they were civilians or green if they were in the military, and now they’re the world’s most powerful economy with a military to match.

Side note: This isn’t meant to be any sort of doom and gloom/anti-China commentary. It’s just what’s happening in the world today. Post-WWII, the US had an enormous amount of power, and used it to mold the international community (for better or worse) as it saw fit. “We” divided the Korean Peninsula, which has resulted in one incredibly successful country and one that is not-so much. Under the farcical guise of “stamping out the threat of communism,” we doused Vietnam in herbicide and helped the psychiatric community more fully understand PTSD. In the 1980s and 90s, China fully opened their hearts and minds to the capitalism while still holding onto the ideals of communal strength, and they’ve circumvented the US with their international “Belt and Road” initiative.

We may have started the whole “Modern Democracy” thing 200+ years ago, and that beautiful experiment accomplished great things, but we’re floundering and we’re sick.

Our children are killing themselves and others because they’re lacking the fundamental critical thinking skills to understand what is real and what is mere fantasy created to stoke anger to divide us.

If you’re reading this, please know that you matter more than you can possibly imagine.
